Queens-raised Destiny Jones (yep, that’s her above in the HLZBLZ jacket), the one and only daughter of Nasir Jones, has launched a lip gloss line called Lipmatic by Destiny Jones, a reference of course to her father’s rap classic album Illmatic. Priced at $14 each, the line’s graphics also holler back at those of her dad’s album and include 12 shades, referencing (mostly) Queens and other New York City neighborhoods and landmarks, including Queensbridge Bricks, Jackson Heights Street Lights, Jamaica Ave. Jewel, Coney Island Cake, among others, all of which are available for purchase here: lipmatic.com/shop/
The story is just now hitting our radar because of the line’s coverage by Teen Vogue and a subsequent shout out by Nas on his Instagram feed, but the line has been available for purchase since spring of 2015.
