Girls’ creator and actress Lena Dunham on the cover of Vogue February ’14. This cover will go down as legendary because of Jezebel’s misguided decision to put a bounty out for unretouched photos of the cover and editorial. The photos showed up and turns out not a lot was different.
Jezebel was widely criticized for witch hunting Dunham specifically because she’s a combination of white, young and not skinny. While Jezebel established some credentials years ago as the first publication to call out the photoshop lies contained in fashion magazine images, in this case it seemed inconsistent for it to target Dunham’s shoot but not models or even other not-skinny celebrity cover subjects like Meryl Streep.
Dunham closed the chapter on the minor scandal with a Tweet that was all shade a couple days back that read
Just want to say a little thank you to everyone who supported me just as I am, most especially @voguemagazine xo-Lena

If you want to have a free look-see at Girls season 3, HBO now has both episodes 1 and 2 on YouTube for free. Get ’em while they last. HBO did something similar last year but eventually took the free episode down.
