Dej Loaf and Kodak Black make a Christmas song?? Who would’ve thought Detroit’s own Dej Loaf would make a sentimental song, featuring Florida’s opposite of squeaky-clean rapper Kodak Black. But yes, they did and it’s surprisingly heartfelt.
In the single carrying the same name as Mariah Carey’s mega-hit, Dej opened up about her memories of Christmas growing up, and in a spoken word portion of the single, reflected on never getting the “Christmas Mikes” aka the hot retro Jordan release as a gift from her mother, but concluded “Christmas is more about gifts, celebrate yourself, celebrate your family, friends and the ones who stand by you everyday. Merry Christmas.”
As for Kodak’s contribution, Loaf provided a note on Soundcloud that read, “I thought it would be dope to get Kodak Black on this record so I reached out and he was with it. So we put together something special for you. This is such a special time of the year. The time when you get to express gratitude and show love. So that’s what we did. I hope y’all enjoy it. Happy Holidays.”
