Alexander Wang Says Philipp Plein Is A Biter; Plein Says Wang Is Thirsty Clown

Fashion week is drawing to an end and Alexander Wang has let it be known he has things to get off his chest. On his Instagram account yesterday (February 14), Wang got straight to the point with a post accusing German designer Philipp Plein of stealing ideas for his Plein Sport presentation.  The post included two side by side videos of Wang’s collaborative H&M runway presentation in 2014 next to Phillip Plein’s debut of Plein Sport line in Milan in January.

Atop the two videos, he created a dialogue that read: “Can I copy your homework?” with the response, “Yeah, just change it up a bit so it doesn’t look obvious you copied” followed by the answer, “Ok.”

Alexander Wang’s presentation included a set designed to look like a race track and while Plein didn’t use the exact same concept, he did create a suspiciously similar running track with similar looking, numbered lanes. Wang hired acrobats for this shoe and yep, so did Plein, and in both shows the acrobat stood on his head on top of black box.

It is noteworthy that Plein at the moment is in New York, having just shown his Phillip Plein line for the first time during NYFW.

Never one to back down from a fight, the feisty Plein then fired back at Wang with his own Instagram post, criticizing his poor timing and ascribing it to a clear case of thirst. “I always do my homework better !!!!! Why would you post a video the day after my show blaming me I copied your ideas ????,” demanded Plein. “You are acting like a desperate clown searching for some attention……. don’t hate the players hate the game bro ……… nobody could care less about this bullshit ……..much love ❤️ PLEIN cu in September .”

It should go without saying that both of these designers have been accused of stealing design ideas, though probably Plein much more so than Wang.

More so, it seems like this level of crazy didn’t exist when Barack Obama was president. Something nuts has leaked into everyone’s water.

Taking inspiration from a feminine Y2K aesthetic, the collection embodies designers Charlotte Knowles and Alexandre Arsenault’s ability to balance sexy and cool.

In an interview with Vogue, the pair shared that they are currently working on a new design director role in Europe and have several other projects in the pipeline, including another denim project, a collaboration with a jewelry brand, and a menswear capsule for an e-commerce site.

Commenting on the lookbook styling, they shared, "Obviously in the lookbooks it's styled in a quite extreme way, but if you break it down into individual pieces, we've been thinking about merchandising and the customer more than ever before," said Arsenault. "We've seen the team in the studio wearing the pieces differently too, and we've taken that into account. It's a nice challenge to say: 'Okay, we want to make a sweatshirt, but it still has this silhouette or wash or rib detail that makes it feel really Knwls."
