Lagos-based Maki Oh presented during New York Fashion Week, showing a collection, according to Amaka Osakwe, rooted in the quasi-true story of a young Nigerian woman, a seamstress, who travels across the city to visit a lover.
Models were shot alongside motorcycles, wearing tailored silhouettes that beautifully outlined their curves. Seductive cut outs and an occasional peek of mesh provided just enough sensuality, conveying looks that are both elegant and playful.
Commenting on the collection, Osakwe explained, “There’s a mix of different ideas of seduction here, It’s a different type of sexy.”
