Taking some hits over accusations over ghost writing in 2016, Young M.A has roared back with a freestyle titled “Kween,” letting everyone know she’s not abut to be intimidated by chatter.
Tapping into an intro from Jay Z’s The Dynasty: Roc La Familia, the Brooklyn hard spitter immediately addressed the rumors (which we don’t believe) off the top, stating:
“I can’t believe they tried to say I had a ghostwriter.
That’s like saying you drove a whip without no tires.
That’s like saying you had it lit without no fire.
Moral of the story is they all liars.”
Young M.A. isn’t just carrying just the weight of push back over her skills, she also has to deal with judgement related to her openly gay identity, reflected in the title of the song, which reflects a spelling often used by members of the gay community.
“Like me being gay is so fucking important.
We all sinnin’ nigga, I don’t give a fuck what you call it.
The only man that can judge me is the man above.
Too much hate y’all need to open up a can of love.”
Young M.A.’s crown is indeed a heavy one, a female rapper, queer, a young black woman, and through the fire she’s proven herself to absolutely worthy of both queen and kween status.
