Raising a fist for women, very dope Wanda Nylon designer Johanna Senyk has linked with
Kim Mee Hye jewelry designer Kimy Gringoire to make a strong feminist statement through an accessory collection of U.S., European and British coins stamped with the faces of three women they admire, Nina Simone, Simone de Beauvoir and Malala Yousafzai.
The coin-themed pieces will be released over the course of three seasons and will include a ring, earring, necklace and cuff paying tribute to Nina Simone, Simone de Beauvoir and Malala Yousafzai.
According to the designer, the line not only pays tribute to female heroes, but is a way for women to honor themselves. “I’m expecting a baby in three weeks, and people keep asking me if my partner is going to get me something. That’s so sad. I’m not waiting for a man to give me jewelry. I will buy my own,” the designer told WWD. “We wanted to make a statement about women using their own money to buy themselves something. Also, I don’t think there are many men out there who would buy their partners something that’s super feminist with a woman’s face on it.”
The collaborative jewelry capsule was included in Wanda Nylon’s fall 2017 runway, a presentation that included a beautifully diverse set of models. From an over-sized hounds tooth coordinated set to her cult-fave, sleek outerwear, the Wanda Nylon woman turns heads with sensuality and style.
Current season Wanda Nylon apparel and accessories are available at farfetch.com.
