Topshop is being clowned all over the internets for its cut out mom jeans featuring a clear, plastic knee, whose purpose is a mystery. Certainly, they’re not sexy, quite the opposite actually. One could argue they make sense for an actual mom who is often on her knees while tending to young chilren and thus could use a pair of jeans that’s easily cleaned up.
In its description, Topshop (understandably) chose to bury the part about the plastic knees at the end of the description. “Off-duty styling never looked so good. [We beg to differ] Crafted from pure cotton our Moto mom jeans [where is the “Moto” tho?] come in authentic mid blue rigid-look denim. Cut with a high-waist and a tapered leg, they are finished with multiple pockets, classic trims and cool clear knee panel detail. Wear them folded at the cuffs to keep them looking cool. 100% cotton [Not exactly 100%]. Machine wash [or sponge off the knees as needed],” wrote the copywriter, who probably was exchanging guffaws with co-writers as a coping mechanism to get through the task.
Priced at $95, though sure to soon be on sale, Topshop’s “MOTO clear plastic mom jeans” may be purchased here.
