Fellow creatives Shepard Fairey and Blondie front woman Debbie Harry have joined force for an Obey capsule collection, launching under the women’s label for fall 2017.
As a street artist, Fairey connects with Harry’s punk roots and has worked with and been inspired by her in the past, including immortalizing the singer with her own graphic portrait. “I’ve been a Blondie fan my whole life and have collaborated with them in the past, which has been a dream come true. But working with Debbie on this project has been totally inspiring,” Fairey told WWD. “She’s been very involved and hands-on for the whole process, just another display of her incredible talent.”
Set to launch in August, the collection features graphic photos of Harry on t-shirts and sweatshirts as well as denim jackets, jumpsuits and dresses that tap into the distinct, femmy punk look the singer was known for.
