Afropunk Brooklyn adds another successful event to its books with an event that drew huge crowds (sometimes causing crowd control issues between stages) to Commodore Park.
There is a lot of discussion about the dearth of female rappers booked at music festivals, but this year, Afropunk quietly stepped out and on day one booked an event filled with amazing female rappers and singers Leikeli47, Willow Smith Princess Nokia, Little Simz that concluded with the exclamation point of SZA and Solange Knowles.
While a lot is made of the amazing fashion at Afropunk, not enough is said about how the event brings together everyday people and part of the joy of the event is simply awesome people interacting and hanging out.
