Alexander Wang previewed the video campaign for T By Alexander Wang last week and showed it in full yesterday. It features SNL character Mango as played by Chris Kattan. Wang wasn’t playing around either, he had Mango accompany him to the CFDA event. According to press, extras in the video includes model Behati Prinsloo, actor and former NHL-player Sean Avery, RHONY Sonja Morgan, and author Derek Blasberg. Watch close and you’ll see Wang make a quick cameo of 1:27.
There are some playful moments when Wang tweaks fashion bloggers, played by Alan Wong and Daphne Zelle, but the best part is the music video (song written by Sharay J), for which Kattan plays the part of a back up singer. The lead singer is played by Dejahna “DJ” Claiborne, who in addition to Kattan is backed up by Ileanna Hichez and Soraya Lundy. Very much shades of the SNL skit in which Beyonce was backed up by Justin Timberlake.
