IKEA and Adidas have announced plans for a collaboration examining the living space and sport. Announced during the company’s Democratic Design Day on June 6, 2018, the company didn’t preview any items from the collection, but implied the collection will be themed on home fitness.
In a statement, the Swedish company explained, “How can we change habits? IKEA team up with adidas to understand what people want and need when it comes to exercising, sleeping and eating at home. Together we will explore the connections between living spaces and sport, and how we can help to create healthy habits.”
In the video below, IKEA executive Marcus Engman describes women who practice fitness at home as “super users” and hints the collection will be designed “by women for women.”
Along with Adidas, IKEA also announced plans to work in partnership with Solange Knowles-founded entity Saint Heron, Off-White’s Virgil Abloh and Lego among others.
