Los Angeles-born music creative Doja Cat thrilled her fans with a 4th of July performance at Coney Island’s Coney Art Walls stage in Brooklyn on the 4th of July. Wearing a black corset, trousers and platform sandals, the Grammy Award-nominated artist opened the set with “Say So” and performed nine songs, closing out with “Juicy.” Touching on her newly-released Planet Her album, Doja performed “Get Into It (Yuh),” “Ain’t Shit,” “Woman” and “Need to Know.”
The lead up to the performance was marred for some fans by confusion over when Doja’s set would begin. While the flier read that the event would begin at 2:00 PM EST, Doja didn’t step on the stage until 9:30 PM EST. As a result, some fans found themselves confined to the cordoned off for multiple hours in a cordoned of concert space where the only available food and water were exorbitantly priced.
Doja followed up after the concert and made it clear she was always scheduled to appear at 9:30 PM EST. On Twitter, she wrote, “I was supposed to be on at 9:30 and i came on at 9:36. Sorry if there was misinformation. For all the people who said they waited 2 hours.”
