Following a break that took place after a drama-filled bust up with former NBA flame Kyrie Irving, Kehlani began to appear back on the scene, first performing at a series of concerts including SXSW, and now releasing new music. Back and seemingly better, the Bay area r&b songstress, who after a short blonde stint revealed today she’s back to her brunette roots, has released a new single, titled “24:07.”
Seemingly referencing recent events, lyrics include lines like, “I don’t know nobody that smiles 24/7,” and “It’s okay to not be okay.” Given recent headlines around an attempted suicide, it’s great that Kehlani took a dark moment and turned it into a message of resiliency through tough times for her fans.
