Barney’s is collaborating with Jay Z aka Sean Carter on series of shop-in-shops that will appear in the chain’s Beverly Hills, Boston, Chicago and Manhattan locations. The shops will be called BNY SCC Gallery (Barneys New York, Shawn Corey Carter).
“With this project, Barneys New York and I were able to take the slickness, energy and innovation of New York City and translate that into quality, timeless pieces,” said Carter to WWD.
Carter worked with Alexander Wang’s Balenciaga label on a minimalist leather backpack, and the item sure to create the most buzz, a men’s bag by Proenza Schouler, the label’s first ever. Other designers included in the shops include Balmain, Lanvin and Rick Owens. Prices range from $70 to $33,900 for an alligator strap watch.
The project launches on November 20th at Barney’s Madison Avenue location with a 1,500 sq. ft. gallery, and while most of the action takes place in the stores, some items will also be available at Barneys.com.
