Representing Oakland, rapper Tia NoMore and singer Kehlani give their take on Ty Dolla Sign’s single “Or Nah.” The song has a ’90s feel and Kehlani’s smooth and confident pop vocal stylings brings to mind Aaliyah though the updated twist is that rather than play the pretty show piece for a male rapper, she shares equal billing with a rapper who just happens to be female, creating a look, sound and feel that explores uncharted territory for the rap-mixed-with-pop genre. (And on a side note, how could we not have love for two ladies who call out their kicks of choice, that being Vans.) Directed by Keoni Mars, the vibe of the video is clean and minimal though the 40 ounce bottles on the coffe table filled with goldfish are an intriguing detail.
