Chanel this morning showed its Haute Couture line for Autumn 2014. It’s a bit more formal than the Spring 2014 collection, which stood out because of the sneakers the models wore, and yet, the story still has active undercurrents with its flat footwear and cycling-inspired shorts worn under skirts (with models posed on bicycles should anyone miss the point).
Cycling shorts have been percolating as a fashion item as shown by a few designers for a few seasons though props to Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld, who perhaps more than any designer has a great eye for new trends and even more importantly knowing the correct timing for when to showcase them out on a Chanel runway.
