Meek Mill has been relatively quiet as of late with most of his communications coming in the form of Instagram clips teasing music from his next Dreamchasers album (yesterday he revealed artwork but still no dates). Today, he makes a bigger public statement, releasing the Spike-Jordan directed visual for the single “Lord Knows,” featuring r&b singer Tory Lanez from his second studio album, Dreams Worth More Than Money. Released in June 2015, it was his first No. 1 album on the Billboard charts.
“Lord Knows” is included on the official soundtrack for the boxing movie Creed (opening November 25th) and the video includes clips of both of the film’s stars, Sylvestor Stallone and Michael B. Jordan. The boxing theme is apt for the Philly rapper in part because of Creed‘s link with the movie Rocky, whose protagonist, Rocky Balboa, also came up through Philadelphia. As well, Mill is viewed as having taken some blows during his fall out with Drake, though time will tell if Mill, like Balboa, has it in him to battle back and regain, if not the title, then the respect of the industry.
