Kith has added another feather to a cap already full of them. After relaunching its Brooklyn outpost, the New York label has announced the launch of a dedicated women’s label, as well as a women’s store, located across from the Kith boutique in SoHo. Kith founder Ronnie Fieg has always counted women as significant people in his family and work life and his various collaborations and collections while mainly geared to the male customer have often included shout outs to women whether through sizing or garments made with a unisex feel (as our coverage on the label can attest!). As such it makes sense his next move would be do give his female fans something they could call all their own.
With a design assist from a former member of New York label Public School, the 60 piece debut collection includes a few pieces that are reinterpretations of Kith staples, including the Brie sweatpant, which share design DNA with the label’s popular Bleecker pant. The label also includes the Danika bomber featuring rouching on the arm plus a dropped shoulder. In general it’s a very New Yorkish feeling collection, not only because of the dark, city friendly color palette, but also because so much is in the details and unanticipated touches revealed upon closer examination.
Similar to the Brooklyn store, the women’s 400 square foot brick and mortar location was designed by Snarkitexture and will feature the collection plus footwear offerings by mainstays including Adidas, Buscemi, Converse, Nike, Timberland and Vans, among others. Look for the store to open on 64 Bleecker in SoHo at 11AM on December 19th. The collection will also be available on KithNYC.com.
