All throughout 2015, Rihanna had hidden in plain sight the Puma collaborative shoe her fans and sneakeristas worldwide were waiting for from the moment the collaboration was announced late last year. What we thought was a customized creeper turned out to be THE shoe, launched officially on September 25th in three colors ways, black/black, black/gumsole and oatmeal/gumsole. A second launch came in November with added colors pink/gumsole, white/gumsole and navy/baby blue.
With plenty of images left in her wake, the various and sundry outfits she was photographed in all year ended up functioning as a Pinterest board, how-to guide on styling the shoe once it did arrive. Equal parts parts classic sneaker and mod/jaunty shoe, Rihanna taught us her creeper is more versatile than the average pair of kicks and works as well with a pair of ripped jeans as it does leggings and knit dresses. In our search for the Snobette Ten, it was clear fashion lovers worldwide grabbed her style baton and ran with it.
We teed up this week’s Puma creeper Snobette Ten with Kehlani (above) because in all things style, she currently is to Rihanna as Travis Scott is to Kanye, in other words, one to keep a very close eye on. And also because–just look at the pic–her all denim everything outfit is, well, perfect. We closed the story with Meri Wild because she has flair to spare, and like Rihanna, clearly is fond of pushing an idgaf envelope or two.
As for other trends associated with styling the Rih-Puma creeper, we noted in our hunt there were three clear favorite colorways: oatmeal, white and dusty pink, all three of which just so happen to sync up perfectly with a color palette of creamy whites, army greens and washed out, ripped up denim which is very “it” right now (and we saw a lot last week in our #snobetteten on transitional dressing).
Some styling details to look out for include pant length that leave ankles exposed #nosox, giving the shoe extra pop-out by contrasting it with the color scheme of the outfit. And one of our favorites, using the laces to create an ankle lace-up look.
Currently the creeper is sold out in most colors though there are a few sites out there still carrying random sizes including NastyGal and Asos. From what we’re told from retailers who have received allocation of the shoe, there should be another launch in February. No word on which colors will be in the launch or whether it will include extended sizing.
