The rise of the Stan Smith and Superstar over the past two years has made it so that even sneakerhead basics know that Adidas’s coolness factor is riding HIGH this year. But it was the arrival of the brand’s NMD R1, a new-new silhouette celebrating the always walking city dweller that sent sneaker fanatic buzz through the roof.
First launched in a black colorway in December 2014, the brand followed up in the new year with preview images of the shoe in multiple colorways and material stories sized for men AND women (oh happy DAY!). NMD had a global coming out party on March 17th, with all pairs evaporating almost as quickly as Kanye West’s Yeezy Boost launches. Technically the shoe’s construction is super legit (Primeknit upper/Boost sole) plus it has iconic silhouette DNA, but for whatever reason, it’s the multi-colored stabilizer tabs on the shoe’s outsole that have added a certain je ne sais quoi unique fashion flair that at least for now feels super cool and insidery.
It’s been only three days since the official launch, but we didn’t have any problem rounding up Snobette Ten (actually 16!) collection of individuals who are laying down the blueprint for how to wear the NMD with flair, pairing them with a big range of sporty casual looks, including shorts, denim, knit dresses and skirts (socks not needed or welcome).
Overall it’s less about a body-con yoga pant/skinny jeans look and more relaxed ease aka wardrobe choices perfect for the on the move global traveler. Check them out below.
