Kanye West appeared on The Ellen Show on Thursday, and covered quite a few topics, ranging from his new child, Saint, to his ongoing frustration with the limits on what he can accomplish to help people because of a lack of funds. It wasn’t much of an exchange, more so a stream of consciousness performance piece.
- Was steadfastly noncommittal about whether or not he wanted more children, adding, “I’m fine to just practice..”
- Disagreed with the suggestion of his wife, Kim Kardashian, that there should be a “board of directors” to vet his Tweets and said he doesn’t regret any of his Tweets
- Reiterated his frustration with not having enough money to bring to fruition ideas he believes could help the human race, and at same time expressed frustration that Mark Zuckerberg with whom he has had dinner hasn’t provided him funding to realize his ideas.
- Said he mainly cares about poeople and pointed out he was raised by his parents to make a difference; added his father lived in a homeless shelter less than five years ago despite being a psychology major and his mother was the first time black, female Chair of the English Department at Chicago State University
- Mentioned how influenced he is by hip hop as a form of expression and pointed out how innovators and influencers like Michael Jackson were reviled and made fun of
He finished his appearance playing Ellen’s “5 Second” rule game, entertaining because of his complete dismissal of the rule requiring three answers. While very much his intense self throughout, West also appeared content and if not happy, at least centered.
