Kylie as a Hollywood Blonde Bombshell
Kylie Jenner has tried too many hairstyles to count, from a shaved undercut, to blue hair, then green and pink at some point, different lengths & textures (who can forget the dreadlocks for Teen Vogue?), but there’s something about blonde that seems to makes sense for her and the drama that always seems to find her.
Out of all the colors of the rainbow tested by “King Kylie,” why not spend more time as a classic blonde especially given her status as one of the hottest stars on the market? We loved this color & cut on the youngest Jenner because it totally suits her unabashedly sexy and yet some how fragile Hollywood icon vibe.
GiGi and Kendall’s Double Trouble Hair Color Swap
Maybe one of the funnest pranks within high-fashion this year was Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner switching hair colors for Paris Fashion Week. Genius! Not only was this stunt a master-minded game plan to extract the maximum possible buzz from the week’s globally-covered events, we also LOVED the bff hair swap as the color change suited them both immaculately. Playing up the pairing, the duo coordinated outfits and hit the town, providing Paris and the fashion world plenty of added entertainment for the week.
Karrueche as a Pink-Haired Storm
The perfect color for cutie-pie Karrueche Tran, a soft pink to match her friendly personality and a beautiful offset to her cafe-con-leche melanin levels. Initially Karrueche rocked this look to attend a few events, but it gained some momentum when she sported it earlier this year at Coachella, earning her a spot in GQ magazine’s #WCW series. Although Karrueche has returned to her classic deep brunette hair color, we definitely miss the pink hair that seemed to suit her so well.
Ariana Grande as a Platinum Blonde
While trying different hair styles and colors is common among pop stars, songstress Ariana Grande is known for sticking with what has become her trademark, highlighted brunette hair pulled up into a high pony tail. As such, jaws dropped when Grande appeared in her 2015 single “Focus” with a new platinum look. The white blonde look was truly transformational, providing her with a much more grown woman look and appeal. After the video, Grande quickly returned to her tried and true look, never even making a public appearance as a Marilyn Monroe blonde. Given that Grande is still working to put some bratty moments in her past, returning back to this color might be one way she could fade memories of her youthful indiscretions.
Rihanna’s Historic Hair Bob
The GOAT. If we could magically make one and only one look stick for good, it would be Rihanna’s hair at the 2015 Met Gala. Not only was the copper red color the perfect accent to her other-worldly yellow Guo Pei gown, it also synced well with the pop princess’s charismatic yet complex personality, and the upturned bob was the perfect frame for her heart-shaped face. Rih must have liked the look herself because she continued to rock the style for weeks after the gala. But like all things Rihanna, nothing lasts forever and she eventually moved on and never looked back. Meanwhile, we are still praying to the hair gods that the princess of pop revives this look or some iteration of it ASAP.
Kylie’s Coachella-Coordinated Rainbow Hair
Yes, Kylie is receiving a double mention. Sorry #notsorry, but her Coachella look is simply too good. Not only did her colorful braids create a head-to-toe look that matched her sequin Discount Universe two piece, but the rainbow color theme was also coordinated with the Bohemian vibe Coachella is loved (and hated) for. And remember what we said about Kylie and controversy a few paragraphs back? Welp, in the case of this look, it gained some notoriety points because an Australian blogger who sported a similar look implied Kylie copied her look, an accusation that caused all social media hell to break loose and included Discount Universe weighing in on the matter.
