Adidas Originals and Alexander Wang’s rumored collaborative capsule as anticipated was revealed during Wang’s New York Fashion Week runway presentation last night (September 10, 2018). At a show attended by Nicki Minaj, Zoë Kravitz, Madonna and her daughter, Lourdes, models presented Wang’s spring 2017 collection first and when the presentation was complete, a video rolled announcing the collaboration.
Models then reappeared wearing the all-black 74-piece unisex capsule that includes a full range of apparel and sneakers. Marked by an upside down Adidas Trefoil (first revealed on Snobette), graphics include tongue-in-cheek crossed out legal document, referencing the illegal use of altered Adidas trademarks on garments.
“When we worked on the images together, from very early on we picked up on the idea of breaking rules and conventions, and looking at how products are bought and resold today, the reseller market, for instance, and the culture of leaks and fakes,” said Adidas global designer Nick Galloway, in an interview with Vogue.
The collection will be sold on three pop up trucks in Manhattan and Brooklyn on September 11, 2016. The first stop will take place at 12:00 PM EST at Canal and Mercer Streets, at 3:00 PM EST at 5th Avenue and 57th Street and at 6:00 PM EST at Bedford Avenue and 12th Street, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
In spring 2017, the line will be available at Adidas and Alexander Wang stores and online sites, plus select retailers.
