Ahead of the much hyped collaboration with Adidas Originals, Alexander Wang presented his spring 2017 collection, his first in three years sans the responsibility of also designing for Balenciaga.
Known for his love of hip-hop, Wang featured New York rapper Princess Nokia‘s single “Tomboy” in the runway soundtrack and indeed, the collection itself was in part a shout out to the “little titties and a fat belly” look Nokia raps about with looks anchored around loose-fitting bottoms like cargo shorts, track shorts and brightly-colored slip skirts paired with a wide range of cropped tops.
The show closed with a runway reveal of the label’s collaboration with Adidas Originals.
The front was star-studded and included Madonna, her daughter, Lourdes, Kylie Jenner and Tyga, Jourdan Dunn, Tinashe, Nicki Minaj and CL, who later performed at Wang’s after party. Fetty Wap and Travis Scott also performed.
