Bergdorf Goodman Bag Celebration

Anya Hindmarch

September 2, 2016. Leave a Comment

There’s Disney World for the kiddies and for adults obsessed with fashion, there is luxury retailer Bergdorf Goodman on Fifth Avenue in New York. It’s especially known for its handbag counters dispersed throughout the first floor. Not unlike reading like a who’s who in the business, a cruise through Bergdorf’s first floor will give you a quick read on which labels are popping in the world of lux handbags and by virtue of their absence, those that are not.

As such it comes as no surprise that in a celebration of the completion of its first floor remodel, bag labels were happy to pony up for a total of 50 exclusive silhouettes. As well, it is also not shocking that many of these earthly delights are already sold out. Women with wealth do not play when it comes to laying down coin for the items they covet.

Check out some of the featured bags below and visit bergdorfgoodman.com for more info.

Noah founder and J Crew men's creative director Br Noah founder and J Crew men's creative director Brendon Babenzien has a certified hit on his hands. Part of his debut collection with the retailer, the men's "giant fit" chino priced at 89.50 is 100% sold out! Relecting the popularity of the silhouette, the women's wide-leg pleated cargo is also sold out.

With wider fits and chino swinging back into popularity, we can't help but wonder what sneakers and shoes will be coming along for the ride. Any nominations?

The GOAT Serena Williams says farewell to her care The GOAT Serena Williams says farewell to her career as a professional tennis player in the September issue of American Vogue.

In the cover story, which is a must read, Williams shares some thoughts on her evolution away from tennis and says,"Believe me, I never wanted to have to choose between tennis and a family. I don’t think it’s fair. If I were a guy, I wouldn’t be writing this because I’d be out there playing and winning while my wife was doing the physical labor of expanding our family. Maybe I’d be more of a Tom Brady if I had that opportunity. Don’t get me wrong: I love being a woman, and I loved every second of being pregnant with Olympia. I was one of those annoying women who adored being pregnant and was working until the day I had to report to the hospital—although things got super complicated on the other side. And I almost did do the impossible: A lot of people don’t realize that I was two months pregnant when I won the Australian Open in 2017."

The cover editorial was styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, who in 2020 became the first black woman to style a U.S. Vogue cover.

This cover was also one of the last projects hairstylist #LatishaChong worked on before she sadly passed away in July this year.

Make-up by Raisa Flowers, nails by Dawn Sterling, and photography by Luis Alberto Rodriguez.
