Kanye West has been creating the usual stir as of late with talk of a Calabasas collection of clothing and sneakers, an effort first referenced during an interview with Vogue, in which West discussed creating a collection of children’s clothes with his wife, Kim Kardashian.
In the same interview, he mentioned a plan to use a pair of Adidas Originals track pants branded with the word Calabasas as an invitation to his then upcoming Yeezy Season 4 runway show, held during New York Fashion Week in September.
According to HighSnobiety some of the Adidas Originals Calabasas invites were made, however, because of production issues, the pants plan was canceled and only a few people ended up with a pair.
After his Governor’s Island Yeezy Season 4 show, West was subsequently spotted in the joggers as worn with Calabasas sneakers (basically a Reebok Top Ten with Adidas branding) at a Harpers Bazaar party held during New York Fashion Week. Since then he’s worn them quite a bit, most significantly at the Queens concert when he learned mid-show his wife had been robbed.
Prior to the Paris heist, Kardashian was spotted wearing the Calabasas with a pair of fur Givenchy slides while in Paris, and recently West’s friend Heron Preston uploaded an image of a navy pair as worn by model Sabrina Albarello to his Instagram account.
While West has been spotted wearing his joggers mostly with sneakers, what’s cool about them is the banded cuff at the bottom makes them compatible with ankle boots or heels. In fact, we’re going to say that is really the best way and perhaps only way to style them. Otherwise, the look of the loose pant and wide band as combined with a pair of flat sneakers gives a bit of a clown effect we are not fans of.
