At a Demna Gvasalia-led Balenciaga, weirdness doesn’t just matter, it is celebrated. It’s a mindset epitomized by the labels spring campaign, for which models are shot in front of a heavy curtain, looking awkward and uncomfortable. Looks are underpinned by the spring 2017 collection’s big statement piece, spandex tight heels, which one could easily imagine Rihanna sporting. Devoid of any models with massive Instagram followings, the shoot is odd but still beautiful and projects the artful appeal of the label perfectly.
