Kanye West May Be Launching A Donda Beauty Line

February 23, 2017. Leave a Comment

Kanye West appears to be mulling the launch of a beauty label under his Donda brand. Thus far, however, the effort is only in the initial planning phases.

“[West has] filed legal docs declaring his intention to produce Donda brand makeup, perfumes, lotions and other cosmetics. [West]’s application to snag the Donda cosmetics line is currently being processed, but our sources say at this time he’s only filed the paperwork in case something develops,” said a report from TMZ.

The TMZ article pointed out the Donda Communications Company organizational chart West tweeted this time last year, and while the chart includes a lot of categories, beauty isn’t one of them. For what it’s worth, on the @dondacreate Twitter account, there haven’t been any updates related to the launch of a beauty category.

That said, West is certainly married into a family whose members can provide a lot of advice and feedback on the category. Given the saturation of the women’s category, it probably makes the most sense for him to enter the men’s category.

Ambrosio and Tordini see the street as the most democratic of spaces, where life happens and fashion truly comes alive. In press with WWD Tordini shared, "We didn’t work over the past seven years thinking about how one day we would have hosted a runway show. That was never our priority, we worked to build the company."

Oozing of a certain cool, the brand is beloved by many fashion creatives, as Vogue noted attendees included Ferragamo’s Maximilian Davis, Gucci’s Sabato De Sarno, Jerry Lorenzo, Moncler CEO Remo Ruffini and DSquared designers Dean and Dan Caten, to name a few.
