With an awesome debut performance at Coachella, Kehlani returned on the second weekend of the event to perform a set on her 22nd birthday. For the occasion, she rocked a look by New York-based Private Policy customized with art by Weleh Dennis from Kids of Immigrants clothing.
Self defined as genderless clothing, Private Policy was launched in 2105 by Parsons alumni Hoaran Li and Siying Qu and has since received praise from Italian Vogue, Dazed and other.
In a recent interview with Hero, the designers spoke about their goals for the brand. “People are demanding for freedom,” “They want to be free from gender rules, free from inequality, free from oppression,” they commented. “We will continue to talk about social issues, world news, and politics; it is a part of the brand’s DNA. This is the ideology behind the name Private Policy, make your own rules.”
