Harlem’s son A$AP Ferg is back with a new video for his single”East Coast,” a visual that features Remy Ma. Set in a bank, Ferg is featured in red on an elevated platform, where he is eventually joined by Remy Ma, wearing a next level, fur-trimmed coat and a coordinated Balenciaga set.
In addition to Remy’s bars, the video includes cameos by appearances by A$AP Rocky, Flatbush Zombies, French Montana and Rick Ross. Directed by Shomi Patwary, the video serves as a tribute to the fish eye lens and frenetic editing techniques made popular by Hype Williams in some of the ’90s most popular music videos.
“As far as creating the song and the visual, I just feel like I wanted to bring the New York energy back, bring it back to the fun videos and creativity and innovation,” explained Ferg in an interview with Billboard magazine.
The single is a part of Ferg’s next album, Still Striving, though the rapper hasn’t announced a release date for the project, which is a follow up to his sophomore album, Always Strive and Prosper, released in April 2016.
For the moment, Ferg’s focus will be performing as an opening act for Future’s “Nobody’s Safe” tour, which kicks off on May 4, 2017, and runs through the end of June.
