Coach And Selena Gomez At Met Gala Provide Hint Of What’s To Come In Fall

May 5, 2017. 1 Comment

At the Met Gala on Monday (May 1, 2017), singer and actress Selena Gomez walked the red carpet in a Coach dress and carried a very cute, kiss lock frame bag. Also made by Coach, the bag featured a cherry print and the bottom was inscribed with the words “Love yourself first,” a phrase taken from one of Gomez’s tattoos.

Coach didn’t make an official announcement and is playing coy on social media, but probably the bag is part of a Selena Gomez collection for fall 2017. The brand announced the Instagram queen as a face of the brand back in December 2016, and at the time it was said she would have some involvement with the design of a fall capsule collection.

In its recent earnings announcement (April 29, 2017), Coach provided a few more details. “[Gomez] has also collaborated with [designer] Stuart [Vever] on a custom handbag, which will be in our retail stores and select department locations globally later this fall,” said Coach, adding info on the fall campaign, “Most importantly, our first global handbag advertising campaign with Selena will hit in July and run through this fall/winter and will be followed by a second campaign in spring/summer 2018.”

When ask on the earnings call if Coach anticipates Gomez will help the brand reach a more youthful customer, the company mentioned her massive Instagram following, and reiterated Gomez’s offerings would include “the handbag,” plus “other small items.” Coach said the bag would be priced under $500, high priced yes, but still lower than its most exclusive collections, signaling the aim is to target a more youthful customer.

Isn’t it romantic? Last night Selena wore a cherry-printed Kisslock Frame Bag, crafted in champagne- and graphite-hued leathers. Swipe to discover similar styles. #MetGala

In press about the announcement Atmos SVP and GM Patrick Walsh says,"The Atmos brand has a unique and authentic identity, character and spirit. Given the strength of Atmos in Japan and Asia, we are focused on further investing in this market. Though in line with this focus and our plans for simplification, we have made the strategic decision to close our three Atmos stores in North America and our Atmos U.S. website. We are confident that this is the right move for Atmos and will help us continue to work in service of bringing sneaker and street culture to our customers in Asia.”

Today, Kering announced the appointment of Dublin, Today, Kering announced the appointment of Dublin, Ireland-born designer Sean McGirr as the new creative director of Alexander McQueen after the departure of Sarah Burton.

A graduate of London’s prestigious Central Saint Martins fashion school, he embarked on his career as an assistant at Burberry and Vogue Hommes Japan before becoming part of the creative team at Uniqlo. Prior to his tenure at JW Anderson, McGirr served as the womenswear designer at the renowned Belgian fashion brand, Dries Van Noten.

With the appointment of McGuirr Kering no longer has any woman creative director for its fashion brands. The visual on the slide.

A new #Gucci luggage campaign under Sabato de Sarn A new #Gucci luggage campaign under Sabato de Sarno's creative direction starring Kendall Jenner and Bad Bunny, was unveiled this weekend.

To give context to the campaign, a portion of the press release reads,"Shot in an airport, the meeting place where journeys begin, the campaign explores the intimacy of traveling together through the creative lens of Anthony Seklaoui. Stills capture the fleeting spirit of Kendall Jenner and Bad Bunny's airport stroll, redefining the Jet Set glamour of the 1990s."

Does this campaign count as a relationship hard launch?

Sarah Burton presented her last collection as Alex Sarah Burton presented her last collection as Alexander McQueen's creative director during Paris Fashion Week this Saturday. Naomi campbell closed the show in a stunning silver dress!

Burton's tenure as creative director for Alexander McQueen has been remarkable, spanning an impressive 26 years. Her ability to maintain the brand's distinctive blend of beauty and edge is noteworthy.

Burton became creative director in 2010 after the tragic loss of Lee Alexander McQueen. As the only female creative director in Kering's fashion portfolio, her contributions have been significant, and her departure, in our opinion leaves a big gap in a house with a very deep and unique brand dna.

Any thoughts on who will be the next McQueen creative director?
