Brooklyn Label Friday By Friday Gets Real For Latest Season Six Campaign

June 16, 2017. Leave a Comment

Founded in 2010, Brooklyn-based Friday by Friday is a metal apparel and accessories line designed by Friday Lynton. We checked in with Lynton as she was in the midst of putting together Season Six.   Described by the designer as art objects, the collection will be launched with a campaign  presenting a conceptual reflection of the struggles experienced as as a creative.

In a phone conversation with Snobette, Lynton explained the concept for her campaign, “I want  to tell the story, express the mood of the struggling artist, the creative. I  think there is a lack of real content showcasing the emotions of the day-to-day struggle, the risks, the insecurities we face to pursue our craft. Through social media especially, everything is so pretty, and happy and that is  not reality. With this campaign I wanted to  move away from the happy and pretty  to something that is more vulnerable and raw to me.”

Lynton, who has a formal background in business,  grew up in Brooklyn with parents who were both metalsmiths at one point, found herself  using metal as a medium of  expression. When looking for creative outlets, the feel and smell of metal had a familiarity that inspired the self taught designer to move forward from experiments to a full collection in 2013.

The striking nature of her offerings have made them popular in the entertainment industry with Justine Skye and Keke Palmer recently spotted in her designs.  Commenting on the importance of celebrity associations, Linton said, “I had a particular metal bra in stock that was not moving, and had five orders after Justine Sky wore it. The visibility celebrities provide is amazing.”

Season 6 will be released in three deliveries with the first set to drop on June 16, 2017 on fridaybyfriday.com. Stay tuned for more updates on an upcoming New York pop-up store and a fashion presentation set for July 2017.
