Takashi Murakami Exhibit Opens At MCA In Chicago Along With Merch Store

The Museum of Contemporary Art at Chicago today (June 4, 2017) opened an exhibit dedicated to the work of Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. Titled “The Octopus Eats Its Own Leg,” the exhibition features 50 paintings by Murakami that span three decades of his career, beginning with the artist’s earliest mature works.

The museum also added Murakami merchandise to its online shop that includes pillows, puppets books, key chains, file folers, pins, books and prints. Prices range from $2.95 for a sticker set to $2,100 for a “Flowerball Margaret” 3-D print.

Alas, the store went live yesterday, and already the pillows are sold out, as are all of the prints. No word on whether there is additional stock in the museum store.
