London Designer Anita Quansah Turns Head With Hand-Embellished Babouche Slippers

July 25, 2017. Leave a Comment

There is no denying the appeal of a slip-on sandal as a summer shoe favorite, especially when said slip on packs a punch of color and glamour. Case in point, designer Anita Quansah’s delightful babouche slippers that are simply artful show stoppers.

Handmade in Morocco and hand-embellished in London, Anita Quansah’s babouche slippers are an amalgam of beads, sequins, raffia, embroidery and even pom poms, and are an extension of Quansah’s background creating elaborate jewelry textiles for the likes of Christian Lacroix, Diane Von Furstenberg, Donna Karan as well as her own namesake line.

Rooted in her Nigerian heritage, Quansah sites her family’s background in dress making and costume design as inspiration for her creations. While there is a more subtle leather and raffia version the ‘Akila’, the adorned slippers have become our new favorites.

You can purchase the below slippers at anitaquansahlondon.com/shop.html
