Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Anne Dereaux has released her debut EP, titled “The Book of Lolita,” a cool mix of rhythmic ballads, sultry vocals and sexy beats with twinges of heartbreak melancholy.
“We can all relate to how it feels to be broken by life, and I wanted to create a larger narrative about what happens when one is repeatedly broken,” she told Fader. “What makes good people do bad things, as a result of personal heartbreak, or as result of being disenfranchised. What are the consequences? I created a character to tell that story, Lolita. When you listen, try to imagine this as the score of a movie; following the life of a good girl who got hurt a few too many times, and took a few wrong turns.”
“The Book of Lolita” is available to stream on all formats and may be purchased iTunes.
