Following news of an ad campaign and planned collaboration with Gucci and Harlem designer Dapper Dan ne Daniel Day, Italian luxury label Gucci invited the famed designer to attend its spring runway presentation, held in Milan on Wednesday (September 20, 2017). The label’s front row also included A$AP Rocky, known for his Harlem roots as well as style acumen.
In commenting on a picture showing Day photographed with Gucci CEO Marco Bizzarri and Kering founder and chairman, François-Henri Pinault, the Harlem designer commented, “This partnership honors our culture on the highest level.”
Day is preparing to open a Gucci-sponsored by-appointment studio in Harlem for custom commissions, that will open by the end of 2017.
Day is currently seeking items made at the original Dapper Dan boutique in Harlem. Presumably some items will be displayed at the new store. If you have any vintage Dapper Dan items, you can fill out a form at vintage.dapperdanofharlem.com.
