Known for fostering up-and-coming talent, London’s Fashion East spring 2018 runway included the noteworthy pick of British-born Supriya Lele. Taking inspiration from her Indian heritage, Lele anchored her collection on the movement of a saris’s wrapping the body. While steering clear of being overly married to the original garment, the young captured the essence of the sari through a coated organza textile, fashioned into slick trousers, jackets and dresses.
Established in 2000, Fashion East is a creative platform created to promote emerging design talent with funding from Topshop and Topman. Past Fashion East participants include House of Holland, Gosha Rubchinskiy , Holly Fulton and J.W. Anderson to name a few.
