Female-led music collective Discwoman is making its mark in electronic music, but also as a brand with a fun collection of merchandise that includes a coach’s jacket, leggings and t-shirts and hats. Items are detailed with Discwoman’s signature taglines like “dance liberation” and “amplify each other,” along with a DJ Haram t-shirt making a play off of the Adidas Trefoil.
Founded by Frankie Decaiza Hutchinson, Emma Burgess-Olson and Christine McCharen-Tran in 2014 the collective was born out the desire to promote higher inclusion of women, people of color and LGBT members in the electronic music scene of concerts and festivals.
Hutchinson also spearheads Dance Liberation Network, an effort to repeal New York’s outdated cabaret laws.
