Brooklyn rapper DonMonique aka Tha Don Dada has dropped a new single titled “Black Kate Moss,” a grimy track highlighting the Brooklyn rapper’s straight-forward and hard-hitting flow.
In a phone conversation with Snobette, DonMonique chatted about what inspired the title of the single and elaborated of what’s inspiring her look as of late. “I definitely keep an eye out for what’s hot in beauty and modeling,” said DonMonique. “With Kate Moss I think her vibe was just chill, she was popular, glamorous sometime but still had a laid back vibe, today more of the young models have that vibe.
“Thanks to social media with models like Winnie Harlow, difference are celebrated. I love Duckie Thot, and the fact that darker skin models as getting more visibility in fashion and cosmetics. I went to but some Fenty Beauty in my shade this week and it was sold out.”
While she keeps an interest in style and fashion DonMonique also mentions being influenced by her younger siblings keen eye for cool gear. To her right now fashion is about being effortless, “When it comes to what I wear, I’m really into sweatsuits right now. With this crazy weather you never know. So you have to be ready. Sweatsuits are cozy yet still cute. I got my first pair of Vans this spring and wore them down to the ground. I have a pair of white Jordan 4’s in heavy rotation and my wheat Timbs always.
The working title for her next EP is currently “Thirst Trap 2,” though at the moment there isn’t a release date.
