Channeling the thoughts of all reasonable people worldwide, Chance the Rapper took part in an Saturday Night musical skit, in which old school r&b group De-Von-Tré performed the single “Come Back Barack,” a song lamenting the end of Barack Obama’s presidency.
Made up of Chance, Kenan Thompson and Chris Redd, lyrics included “Every night I turn the TV on and cry. I say why I feel like we’re all gonna die. So come back Barack, even though it’s not allowed, we want you back somehow.”
Well-worn ’90s-era r&b music references included a spoken word interlude plus visual call backs like a darkened bedroom featuring fur blankets, satin sheets, roses and lots and lots of candles. The obligatory rain scene is also included.
