New York-based label Telfar has been announced as the winner of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award at a ceremony that took place Monday at (November 6, 2017) at the Weylin in Brooklyn. Founded by Telfar Clemens in 2005, the label will be awarded a prize of $400,000.
The runner up prize went to Chromat, founded in 2010 by Becca McCharen-Tran, and Ahlem, founded in 2014 by Ahlem Manai-Platt. Both labels were awarded a prize of $150,000 each.
Wearing a molded knit top and leather trousers, Clemens attended the gala accompanied by Selah Marley, who was dressed in a curve hugging Telfar dress accessorized with a sculptural updo.
Telfar recently collaborated with a White Castle located in his Queens neighborhood on a capsule collection and also created a t-shirt for New York department store Century 21’s new concept store, Next Century.
By the looks of it 2018 will be an awesome year for Telfar and we’re here for it!
