Afropunk has announced the line up for its Brooklyn festival, taking place at Commodore Barry Park on August 25-26, 2018. Headliners include Erykah Badu, Janelle Monáe and Tyler the Creator.
Additional artists include Yuna, Lolawolf, Ibeyi, H.E.R., Jaden and Willow Smith, Lion Babe with more to come.
This year the event is titled “The People Resist,” which “brings together Afropunk ideology and the people who support it, in resistance to those that strive to oppress.”
While Afropunk started in Brooklyn, it’s expanded to multiple cities globally, including Paris, London, and Johannesburg. It recently announced dates for its atlanta event, which takes place October 13-14. Performer thus far include N.E.R.D., Noname, Little Simz and Kari Faux.
Tickets start at $117 for a single day of attendance and go up to $590 for a VIP two-day pass. Afropunk has introduced a new Buy-One-Get-One ticketing system whereby a portion of each ticket will be used to enable a young, low-income New Yorker to attend the event for free.
