Rumors Of A Rihanna And Beyoncé Music Collab Make The Rounds

March 12, 2018. Leave a Comment

Take it with a giant grain of salt, but rumors have begun to circulate that Rihanna and Beyoncé have a collaboration in the mix. The 15 second snippet has been circulating on Instagram and Twitter and was allegedly posted by a producer name Earthquake (who no one has ever heard of so there’s that.)

Beyoncé and Jay-Z today announced plans for their “On the Run” global tour so one would anticipate Beyoncé releasing new music before the tour kicks off in Wales on June 6, 2018, perhaps in time for her performance at Coachella in April.

One has to guess Bey has plenty up her sleeve for the coming year, including new music, visuals (another “On the Run” documentary?) and music collaborations. Don’t get us started on tour costumes!

As for Beyoncé and Rihanna working together, it’s significant because Bey is married to the man who is president of the company that manages Rihanna though when it comes to music the two have always have kept each other at arm’s length. Both have tended to collaborate more with male rather than female artists, which is in part an industry norm whereby major artists only work with other artists of their caliber and sad to say there are more major male artists than female.

Still, both artists have worked with female singers. Bey has worked with Lady Gaga, Shakira, Alicia Keyes and Nicki Minaj, among others. Rihanna has collaborated with SZA as well as Shakira and Minaj. Both have also worked with multiple female writers. The two titans even appeared together on a track called “Just Stand Up,”as part of a charity super group.

The other issues is that people who compete head to head with each other whether male or female tend to work with each other less. Beyoncé and Rihanna are both superstars in their own right, one might rightly argue there’s as much an argument for them working together as there is against. Whatever they put out, you can be sure their fan bases will go to war arguing over who came off better. Already they’re arguing on social media over this snippet!

If the rumor is true, this would be a mind blowing event for the Beyhive and the Navy, which constantly clash with each other online. Typically, the Beyhive trashes the Navy for Rihanna’s lack of vocal range while the Navy gets at the Beyhive for Beyoncé’s lack of chart toppers. Rare is the fan who claims membership in both clans.

Check out the snippet below and let us know your thoughts.
