New York-based artist CJ Hendry is presenting her latest creative endeavor in a 22,000 square-foot industrial space in Brooklyn. Titled “MONOCHROME,” her fifth solo show is an installation of seven rooms themed on seven different colors.
In a press statement, the Australia born Hendry elaborates on her use of color. stating,“I am new to color, not too sure if I understand it yet. Before, when I drew in black ink all the focus was on the object because all the emotion of color was removed. Now I stare at my drawings and feel…just different I can’t explain it.”
Hendry first became known for her hyper-realistic drawings of luxury items executed for the most part in black and white. Her collaboration with designer Christian Louboutin in 2016 at Art Basel Hong Kong, marked her first foray into color.
“MONOCHROME” will open on April 5 through Sunday, April 8 from 10:00 AM EST to 5:00 PM EST at 276 Greenpoint Avenue in Brooklyn.
