Dope labels No Sesso and COME TEES delighted their fans with a combined runway show, held on Saturday evening (April 7, 2018) in a warehouse in the Chinatown neighborhood of Los Angeles.
The event came about as a conversation between the lead designs for the two labels, No Sesso’s Pierre Davis, and COME TEES founder, Sonya Sombreuil, and was open to the public, reflecting both labels’ commitment to creating fashion rooted in openness. Music for the event was handled by DJs Venus X and Asmara Nguzunguzu.
“Every inch of this fabric, I touched,” said Sombreuil in an interview with Vogue. “There were three signature prints. One of them was a little bit of a joke and a little bit of an homage to how much we love high-fashion monograms. So we made a schizophrenic monogram. I love MCM, I love Fendi, I love Gucci. To me, Gucci is a powerful image.”
Footwear was provided by Nike with models wearing the brand’s new Air Max 270 silhouettes.
The cast include Joe Jennings, gallery owners José and Hector Polio, painter Emma Kohlmann, up-and-coming soul singer Kona, among others.
