The BET Awards took place last night (June 24, 2018) at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, where the event was hosted by Jamie Foxx and included performances by Nicki Minaj, H.E.R. and Ella Mai, among others.
Beyoncé took home best female r&b/pop artist, marking the ninth time she’s been recognized by BET with the award. Bronx rapper Cardi B took home the competitive best female rap artist category, winning out in a field that included Dej Loaf, Minaj, Rapsody and Remy Ma. Cardi also took home the viewer’s choice award. Marking her first music award, SZA was recognized as best-new artist.
