Nicki Minaj wrote a message of support to Tekashi 6ix9ine ne Danny Hernandez on Instagram today (November 21, 2018) where she wrote, “For reasons beyond music, the record company will hold off on putting his project out for now. Danny, I love you and am praying for you, your Mother, daughter & her Mom during this time.”
Minaj was referencing Tekashi’s album Dummy Boy, which was due to drop on November 23, 2018. The album was postponed after the 23-year-old was arrested on racketeering charges on November 19th. The album includes “Fefe,” a smash single featuring Minaj that dropped in July 2018. Minaj and Kanye West are featured on “Mama,” the album’s fifth track. Attempts to film a video for the single were disrupted by shots fired at the location in Los Angeles. No one was present when the incident occurred.
Follwing his arrest, Tekashi requested and was denied bail because of the severity of the charges. According to TMZ, charges included the following: “In April, Tekashi waited in a car outside an New York office building and recorded while his manager and other associates robbed some of Tekashi’s rivals. The incident where shots were fired at Barclays Center is also detailed…and describes earlier in the night, Tekashi was present while someone from his crew fired multiple shots at another vehicle. Finally, the [documents] describe an incident in July where Tekashi allegedly ordered a hit on a rival…a move that left one person shot in the foot.”
Minaj also took some time out today to visit her home borough Queens to give out free turkeys for Thanksgiving with her mother, Carol Maraj
