London-based fashion incubator Fashion East once again reliable delivered the goods during this past week’s London Fashion Week Men’s fall 2019 presentations. Among the designers that showed under its umbrella, Central Saint Martins alum Mowalola Ogunlesi positively popped out. The Nigerian-born Ogunles presented a dynamic assortment of men’s and women’s looks conveying a sexy yet still nuanced fashion statement, (a design theme that’s made her a favorite of Solange Knowles).
Ogunlesi amplified the message through makeup artist Daniel Sallstrom, who artfully covered models’ faces with a colorful mix of powders that had the effect of an abstract pastel painting come to life.
Discussing the themed of gender fluidity, Ogunlesi told i-d magazine, “We get so caught up in these social divides that boys must be this way and girls must be this way. I feel that everyone’s on the gender spectrum so the more we can break it down and get back to individual wants and desires, the more we can push society forward.”
