While on the road, Frank Ocean today (January 24, 2019) shared a snippet of his version of SZA‘s “The Weekend” on Instagram Stories. Ocean is know to enjoy the occasional cover and is best known for his rendition of Aaliyah’s “At Your Best (Your Are Love)” single, which was included on his 2016 Endless album.
Earlier this month, Ocean spoke with GQ to talk about fashion, his skin care routine, moving to New York, his radio show “Blonded” on Beats 1 and making his Instagram account public. In the interview, Ocean spoke of his interest in covers. Ocean explained, “Nowadays, I have to live with the song for a bit and I have to see if it’s worthwhile to interpret it first. To see what I can do with it, where I can insert my voice.”
The Long Beach, California-born singer/songwriter hasn’t released a multi-song project since his 2016 album Blonde, though he has released stand alone singles “Chanel” and “Biking” and has been featured on quite a few projects.
As of now Ocean hasn’t mentioned plans to drop the full single, but you can check the snippet out below. Meanwhile, SZA is on a social media break, but her astrologist uploaded her birth chart for fans to see.
